The notorious Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan. announced Monday that its members will protest two public services held for former First Lady Betty Ford, who died last Friday at the age of 93.

The church has a history of protesting high-profile burials, often calling deaths a punishment from God. The group has been denounced as radical by many Christian organizations.

Betty Ford is in Hell! the Church said in a released statement.

Westboro faulted Ford for having divorced her first husband William Warren and then marrying former President Gerald Ford.

She divorced him & 'married' Gerald Ford & Betty Ford lived in adultery for 58 years, Westboro wrote.

After her days in the White House, Ford was best known for helping found the Betty Ford Center, a substance abuse and alcohol treatment center often used by celebrities.

At a scheduled funeral on Tuesday, in Palm Desert, California members of the public are being invited to file past Ford's casket and sign a guest book. Speakers there will be current First Lady Michelle Obama and former First Lady Rosalind Carter, wife of President Jimmy Carter.

Her body will then be flown to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where her husband is buried at his presidential museum.

Wesboro says its pickets will be 1 p.m. at both St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert and at Grace Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids. Lynne Cheney, wife of former Vice President Dick Cheney will speak.

The church also faulted the media for giving Betty Ford a platform to speak about her views on premarital sex, abortion and same-sex marriage.

You mutts love to find someone to talk about sin, so you cooed over her whorish ways & loved her smut talk. You are to blame; & today she curses you in hell! the group wrote.

Betty Ford had a shtick when she got a national platform via her whoring-partner's political fame. She loved to sit with tawdry muckraking reporters & blather about sex. She couldn't wait to have an audience with a reporter to titter about premarital sex, and how much she loved to teach it to her daughters. The trashy reporters encouraged her to say more! So she urged all the women of this doomed foul nation to engage in extra-marital sex. Then she pushed for abortion, because when you teach a nation's women to be whores, its inevitable pregnancies will inconvenience the selfish strumpets! THAT is the legacy of Betty Ford.
