Since the four-membered act’s first appearance, Blackpink has spawned early commercial success across the globe. The K-pop girl group bagged the New Artist of the Year title at the 31st Golden Disc Awards as well as the 26th Seoul Music Awards. On top of their smash hit debut, Blackpink has also set their record at the highest tier for the overall female K-pop act on both Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

The girl group’s 2019 electropop song “Kill This Love,” also broke records for amassing 5.6 million views within a 24-hour span upon the single’s release. As of January 2020, the K-pop music video has accumulated a total of 700 million views on Blackpink’s YouTube channel.

Maintaining their band of recurring successes over the past few years, Blackpink’s last break dates back on 2019 which includes their notable performance at Coachella as the first K-pop girl group to appear in the annual California festival. Meanwhile, their superhit 2019 single, “Kill This Love,” also peaked at no. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest-charting song debuted by a K-pop girl group.

Amid their skyrocketing success, Blackpink noticeably went on a hiatus after their tour. The girl group’s apparent absence left fans and onlookers awaiting their return and has even sparked a slew of salacious rumors regarding some of its band members.

Fortunately, on May 4 (Monday), Blackpink’s management company YG Entertainment, has announced the K-pop quartet’s official comeback this summer. The girl group is reportedly returning in June with a new album and will be their very first content since their April 2019 debut, Forbes reported.

"Blackpink is scheduled to come back in June,” a YG Entertainment told South Korea’s XSport News. “We plan to officially make an announcement to fans first as soon as we have an exact release date.”

As per Billboard, there are also obvious signs that Blackpink’s return will be bigger than ever. For instance, the four-membered act will be featured on an album by one of the most revered artists in the music industry, Lady Gaga. Blackpink will appear on “Sour Candy” off “Chromatica,” Lady Gaga’s highly-anticipated album for 2020.

More on Blackpink’s smashing summer debut, it was also reported that members of the girl group were spotted in a studio with much touted producer Teddy Park as well as his frequent collaborator, BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Billboard reported.

Seems that the K-pop quartet is cooking up more blockbuster content for their fans, while setting their sights on another phenomenal break.
