Welterweight boxer Mikey Garcia avenged the loss from his last fight by beating Jesse Vargas in their 12-round showdown at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, TX. The judges scored the contest 114-113, 116-111, and 116-111 all in favor of the 32-year old Garcia.

Now that he was able to prove himself as a force in the welterweight class, the Mexican-American wanted to have two options in mind when asked about his options for his next opponent. "I would love to fight Manny Pacquiao or get a rematch with Errol Spence,” said Garcia per reports from CBS Sports. “I think it would be a tremendous fight, and I'm better now at this weight class. I think I want to continue to campaign at 147 and search a title in my fifth division."

Garcia’s loss prior to his fight with Vargas came from the hands of Spence, who was watching him fight at ringside. It was his only loss before getting that 40th victory over Vargas. His record now stands at 40-1-30 KO.

Reports from BoxingNews24 said that DAZN is looking at the positives and are convinced that they can make the fight between Garcia and the Filipino boxing legend in Saudi Arabia on July 11. Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who is Garcia’s promoter, said that he is ready to arrange the showdown between the two.

They are also aware that there will be a lot of money involved to make the fight happen and Hearn is looking to put competitive fights in the undercards. “It’s expensive but we work really well together. I’ve got an option to promote his next fight, and I would like to do that against Manny Pacquiao,” Hearn said.

The same report also said that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is trying to set the stage for Pacquiao to face Terence Crawford but the chances of making the eight-division champion to say yes are slim.

The effort could also benefit DAZN as a Pacquiao-Garcia match could also bring more subscribers as Matchroom Boxing, where Hearn’s Matchroom Sport is tied up with the to the sports streaming company in showing their fights.

Pacquiao is coming off a split decision over Keith Thurman in July 2019 to raise his record to 62-7-2-39KOs.
