  • Sean Gibbons claims Manny Pacquiao is not completely retired
  • An official announcement on Pacquiao’s boxing status will be known in October
  • WBA's decision may have played a factor in Pacquiao’s decision to run in the next elections

As far as Manny Pacquiao is concerned, the attention is now on his announcement to run for president of the Philippines.

However, it does not mean that he is done with boxing.

It will be recalled that when the eight-division champion lost to Yordenis Ugas, he mentioned that he would make the proper announcement to address his boxing and political plans.

So far, he has only addressed one--that of which is politics.

However, it appears that he may have spilled the real score on his boxing career when he appeared on “Toni Talks” on YouTube.

"My boxing career? My boxing career is already over," Pacquiao said. "It's done because I've been in boxing for a long time and my family says that it is enough. I just continued [to box] because I'm passionate about this sport."

It does make sense and there have been many who believe that Pacquiao has nothing left to prove.

As mentioned in a previous post, first female Boxing Hall of Famer Christy Martin said that Pacquiao should just focus on helping people rather than slug it out in the ring.

“A future Hall of Famer, he has nothing left to prove,” Martin stated. “So why not just hang it up and just continue doing what you do? Do the politics, help the people. He has done enough for boxing.”

However, MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons clarified that nothing is set in stone when he spoke to boxingscene.com.

“There is nothing 100% set that [Pacquiao] is done with boxing,” Gibbons said. “He will make a decision in October. [For now], he is just discussing ‘maybe or maybe not.’ Nothing official.”

The decision ironically comes after a potential rematch with Ugas fell apart. The WBA ordered the Cuban champion to face mandatory challenger Eimantas Stanionis and then "regular" champion Jamal James next.
