Jennifer Lynn Lopez was formally charged Thursday for murdering Brittany Killgore, a Marine's wife. Investigators remained mum on the connection between the two.

Lopez, 25, will be arraigned on a first degree murder charge, reported ABC News. Killgore, 22 was reported missing Friday.

Lopez left a suicide note at the Ramada Inn in San Diego where investigators found and arrested her. She had self-inflicted wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After her release, she was taken into custody at the Las Colinas Detention Facility.

The suicide note Lopez left behind detailed what happened to Killgore and where her body was.

The body was found near Lake Kinner in Riverside County, California, around 25 miles northeast of her home in Fallbrook, the Associated Press reported.

It's very bizarre. I wish I knew the end to the story. Where are the leads? Navy Petty Officer Ashley McMurray, who lives in the area, said to the Associated Press.

Investigators did not reveal any more details about the body.

If convicted Lopez could serve a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The last person to see her was Marine Louis Ray Perez, 45. He was arrested on an unrelated charge for possession of a stolen AR-15 military assault rifle. He pled not guilty to the charges. He is being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $500, 000 bail.

Authorities do not know if the weapon was used in Killgore's murder. Perez said he took the weapon from a man in February.

Killgore's grandmother, Cheryl Coble, told the Park Hills Daily Journal that Killgore, Perez, and his girlfriend were supposed to attend a dinner cruise Friday night. Perez's girlfriend dropped out at the last minute.

Coble said she is unsure if her granddaughter made to the cruise. She said Perez is not talking to anyone about what happened that night.

He's 45 years old and has invoked his Fifth Amendment right about what happened the night she disappeared and he's not talking, said Coble.

Lopez's attorney Dean Broyles said he didn't know if his client knew Perez or Killgore.

There's a lot of speculation, a lot of innuendo, a lot of weak allegations and charges out there, he said to the Associated Press. I would caution everyone to not jump to conclusions and prejudge based on all the information flying around right now.

Investigators have not revealed the relationship between Killgore, Perez, and Lopez.

The slain woman filed for divorce from her husband, Lance Cpl. Cory Killgore, who was serving in Afghanistan as a vehicle operator, last week. Upon hearing of his wife's disappearance, Cory was sent home to aid in the search.

This case has shaken many in San Diego County and many in the military community at Camp Pendleton, Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis told a press conference Thursday morning, reported the LA Times.

Dumanis said additional charges may be filed against Lopez and Perez.

Answers will come in time as this case makes its way through the criminal justice system, Dumanis said.
