  • Caitlyn Jenner flew to Australia to film “Big Brother VIP”
  • The reality star left the country amid her gubernatorial campaign in California
  • Jenner’s partner Sophia Hutchins has opted to stay in their Malibu home

Caitlyn Jenner and live-in partner Sophia Hutchins will spend some time apart.

The 71-year-old former Olympian flew to Australia to film an appearance on “Big Brother VIP,” a spokesperson for the TV personality confirmed with Politico Friday, following Australian tabloid reports claiming Jenner has headed south amid her gubernatorial campaign.

Jenner is in the race to beat Gov. Gavin Newsom in the California recall election, but her decision to jet-set to Sydney this week has cast some doubts on her campaign. Australia implemented stricter regulations amid the pandemic, so she is required to quarantine for two weeks before she can start filming the reality show, according to The Daily Beast.

However, the former “I Am Cait” star has assured her supporters that she will be back. She explained on social media that she is doing an engagement that she had agreed to long before she decided to run for office.

“I am honoring a work commitment that I had made prior to even deciding to run for governor. There is no pause at all on this race to save CA!” she wrote on Twitter Friday.

Her spokesperson also told Politico on the same day that Kris Jenner’s ex-husband will surely be back in time for her “bus tour” in California ahead of the Sept. 14 election.

Meanwhile, Jenner’s partner, Hutchins, has opted to not join the reality star on her quick trip to Australia and just stay behind in their Malibu mansion. On Wednesday, the 25-year-old model and businesswoman took to Instagram to share a selfie she took from their residence to greet her fans “good morning.”

On Friday, she once again updated her account on the photo-sharing platform by posting a photo of her in their house. In the snap, Hutchins sports a somber expression while standing on the veranda.

Jenner and Hutchins first met in 2015, and the two have been inseparable since. Their closeness sparked romance rumors that went on for years even though Hutchins has time and time again denied the reports romantically linking them to each other.

In a 2019 interview with The New York Times, Hutchins, who is the CEO of skincare brand Lumasol, set the record straight by saying that they were “never romantically involved.”

A year later, Hutchins dispelled the rumors once again when she appeared on the “Juicy Scoop” podcast with Heather McDonald saying, “It was never romantic. It was never sexual. It was very much friends. It's very parental, very protective. But, at the same time, it's also businessy. It's like we're family.”
