A mother in California is suspected of killing her daughters and attempting to take her own life.

The scene was discovered when the girls’ father got home late Tuesday afternoon. He entered their Ontario, California, house to find the bodies of his 14-year-old and 4-month-old daughters in the garage and completely unresponsive. He did attempt to revive them, but to no avail. He continued searching the house and found his wife, also unresponsive, but alive and injured.

Police were called to the scene to investigate while the mother was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

Ontario Police Department Sgt. Bill Russell revealed during a press conference Wednesday that investigators did find two suicide notes in the house. One was discovered inside the car at home while the second was found inside the house. There were also clear signs of a struggle, according to Russell, at the home that is supported by the injuries on the children’s bodies.

Russell also said that the mother had been battling with depression and the teenage daughter had special needs, though said a clear motive had not been found.

While no arrests have been made, police are currently investigating the mother in connection with the murders. However, she is still unresponsive at due to her current condition which has prevented police from speaking with her.
