Camilla Parker Bowles got back with Prince Charles for a reason.

In an ITV documentary titled “The Real Camilla: HRH the Duchess of Cornwall,” Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair was revisited. It was revealed that Camilla was unhappy with her marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles due to his adulterous behavior, so she rekindled her romance with the Prince of Wales, who had not met Princess Diana yet at the time.

“She was unhappy that she was the betrayed woman. This was the real problem,” an insider told the program. “That's what sent her back into the arms of Prince Charles.”

“Andrew was away an awful lot, and Prince Charles was someone who was kind to her,” the insider added.

Prince Charles and Camilla dated before she married Andrew. The two met in 1970 by chance at a polo match. They started dating soon after. However, Prince Charles left for naval duties overseas and their romance cooled down as Camilla was charmed by Andrew.

According to Penny Junor in her 2017 book “The Duchess: The Untold Story,” Prince Charles was broke-hearted when he learned that Camilla was getting married to Andrew. The Prince of Wales even wrote a letter a week before her wedding in an attempt to stop her from tying the knot with another man.

However, as Prince Charles was falling in love with Camilla, she was also in love with Andrew. The biographer added that Camilla wanted to be the wife of a handsome cavalry officer and had no intentions of becoming the Princess of Wales or Queen.

Andrew was romantically involved with Prince Charles’ sister Princess Anne. The two reportedly had a “torrid affair” that made Camilla furious. Andrew was never nice to Camilla, but she was “stubbornly determined” to marry him.

Camilla’s dad also preferred Andrew over Prince Charles. According to Sally Bedell Smith in her book “Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbably Life,” Bruce Shand is not fond of the heir apparent.

Shand and Andrew’s brother worked together so he would propose to Camilla by publishing an engagement notice in a newspaper to pressure him. Andrew responded the way they expected him to by proposing to Camilla.
