CDS Rates On Spanish Government Bonds Soars To Record High
The cost of insuring that Spanish government bonds do not default climbed Friday to a record high, another sign that the confidence of investors and the broader economic community in Madrid's ability to meet its financial obligations is evaporating. Italy's credit-default rate also soared.
Credit-default swaps linked to Spain's notes climbed nine basis points to 615, and the CDS rate on Italian government bonds soared to 575.
