FC Barcelona's Antoine Griezmann came to the rescue of teammate Ansu Fati, who was on the receiving end of stomach-churning racist remarks made by the Spanish press after their club picked up a sensational 5-1 victory over Ferencvaros in their UEFA Champions League opener on Tuesday.

Griezmann has publicly lambasted the controversial report published in the Spanish newspaper ABC that contained unnecessary descriptions of the winger, according to Goal.

The article used derogatory comparisons to describe Fati, based on his skin color, with its author claiming that the player reminded him of “black street vendors.”

Griezmann did not hold back in condemning the report through his social media account.

"Ansu is an exceptional boy who deserves respect just like all other human beings," he tweeted. "No to racism and no to bad manners."

With team captain Lionel Messi focusing on a different field role in the club's matches, Fati is slowly gaining a reputation as one of Barcelona's go-to attackers.

The teenage prodigy pulled off a stellar performance at Camp Nou as he scored the squad's second goal before lending a helping hand on Philippe Coutinho for Barca's third goal just after half-time in the game against Ferencvaros.
