Charli D’Amelio’s fame is on a steady incline. The viral TikTok star appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Tuesday night to discuss her rise to fame and how she wants to use her new influence to tackle cyberbullying.

“We paired up with UNICEF for internet safety day and talking about how cyberbullying really can affect people,” she said. “I feel it’s very important to raise awareness about that because a lot of people don’t like talking about the hate they get.”

The “we” D’Amelio is referring to is her sister, Dixie, who appeared alongside her in a UNICEF ad where they discussed the negative comments they receive daily online, according to Insider.

"Some of the most hurtful comments I've read about myself online are, 'She's fatter than when we got her famous.' Or, 'she's ugly,'" Charli said. "They don't like how my face looks for some reason. A lot about my body shape, my body type, which hits close to home because I struggle a lot with body image, body dysmorphia, bad eating habits."

Since the 15-year-old’s rapid rise to fame in summer 2019, she has consistently received hate comments surrounding her looks and worthiness of success. Charli, who has 35 million followers on TikTok, said she feels particularly targeted as opposed to other viral stars from the app.

“And I know especially me I get it a lot,” she said.

UNICEF’s campaign aims to answer worldwide questions surrounding cyberbullying, in response to their initial question, “what would you like to know about cyberbullying?” Along with the D’Amelio sisters, they teamed up with social media apps like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and international specialists in child protection and cyberbullying to answer questions and offer advice.

While speaking appearing on Fallon, Charli also taught the “Tonight Show” host some of the most popular TikTok Dances.
