  • Frank Lampard knows Chelsea needs to start winning games soon
  • He is unfazed by the talks of him potentially losing his job
  • Lampard is working on winning and may not be around when the Blues shine

Chelsea FC manager Frank Lampard knows that his job is not secure. After splurging on multiple young and talented players last summer, the 42-year-old coach is aware club owners want to see the fruits of their investment.

The Blues won just one of their last six games in the Premier League. A loss to Morecambe in the FA Cup third round on Sunday would only add to the Englishman’s woes, Goal noted.

Expectations were high for Chelsea following the entry of top names like Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz. But from the start, Lampard already said that it would take time to mold his new breed of players. Eleven players have just one year of experience or less in the Premier League, and the poor showing was something he expected.

Unfortunately, Chelsea management may not be too understanding if their expectations are not met. The fact that other clubs were looking at the Blues to be one of the favorites to win the Premier League does not make things easier for Lampard.

"We have a young squad and new players coming in, so when people want to talk about us having the strongest squad, one month ago, the reality is that we had a squad of players, some of them new, and they have not performed at levels in previous years to win you titles. That was my feeling," Lampard said.

Patience is something that would be suggested, but Lampard himself admitted that this should not be an excuse. Rather, he prefers to figure out ways to make it all work. With the pressure mounting, he needs to find a way to get his young bunch to function splendidly.

"My decision is to wake up every day and try to get that tiny bit of improvement every day within the squad, but understand and have a calm head about the fact that some days football won’t allow you just to cruise through,” Lampard added.

After initially getting praise, Lampard has now been criticized for his lack of coaching experience. But he said he remains confident and is not bothered by the prospect of getting the boot, The Guardian reported.

“I’m very confident in what I do, whether people want to think that I’ve been a manager for two and a half years,” Lampard said.
