  • Romelu Lukaku has yet to make his Chelsea return
  • The Blues have earmarked a potential addition to their already stacked frontline
  • Thomas Tuchel is reportedly not relying on Lukaku alone

After landing Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea may have been considering another sensational transfer.

The Blues look primed for a championship run in the English Premier League this season.

Thomas Tuchel has done quite a great job utilizing his talent-stacked frontline composed of Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

However, it appears that Chelsea will be looking to add another attacker in the next transfer window, and among the heavily linked to a move to Stamford Bridge thus far is Juventus’ Federico Chiesa, Italian outlet Calciomercato.com reported.

According to the report, Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Chiesa.

Between the two aforementioned top European clubs, it is the latter that is “ready to make an important investment,” and raiding Chiesa from Juve is already being considered.

Moreover, the report said that the Blues are “willing to spend up to €100 million ($112 million)” for the 24-year-old, the same amount of money they spent to bring in Lukaku from Inter Milan this past summer.

It was also noted that Chelsea began tracking Chiesa after Tuchel’s side noticed his remarkable performance during the Euro 2020.

To date, Chiesa has already scored three goals and one of them came during Juventus’ last duel with Chelsea.

However, it was last season where Chiesa made his mark in the Old Lady, having bagged a total of 14 goals in 43 matches across all competitions.

His notable form even got the media labeling him as Cristiano Ronaldo’s new “sidekick” at the time.

As it stands, Lukaku has yet to make his return to Chelsea, having incurred an injury last month.

The Belgian striker has evidently been a key figure at Chelsea. However, reputable transfer insider Ian McGarry said in an earlier report that Tuchel doesn’t want to rely solely on Lukaku and has already “requested” another striker.

“It is our information that he [Tuchel] has requested from the club that they recruit a striker in the January window,” McGarry revealed. “From what I’m told, there is no definite shortlist that’s been formulated as yet, but you can see the point that they’ve been heavily reliant on [Romelu] Lukaku in such a short space of time since he arrived back at the club for his second spell.”

“This has been significantly influenced now as well by the fact Romelu Lukaku will miss at least two games but maybe up to a month in the coming weeks, as well as Timo Werner being out as well,” he added.
