  • Chelsea is in constant communication with Ben Chilwell and Declan Rice's representatives, a report said
  • A transfer insider said that apart from Kai Havertz, Chilwell and Rice are Chelsea's other top prospects
  • Bayern Munich is likely to back out from pursuing Havertz following a big splurge on Leroy Sane

Apart from Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, Chelsea is also in constant dialogue with representatives of Leicester’s Ben Chilwell and West Ham’s Declan Rice, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed.

Havertz’s possible move to Chelsea has been one of the most followed stories of the coming transfer window. Rumors swirling around the Premier League suggested that Frank Lampard will be pushing hard for the German star.

However, in a recent Q&A with fans via Bleacher Report’s app, Jones revealed that based on what he has heard from the Blues, Lampard’s side is also in talks with two other top prospects – Leicester City’s Chilwell and West Ham’s Rice. The football insider for Bleacher Report even predicted that Chelsea will make a possible transfer bid for both Premier League stars soon.

“They constantly keep dialogue open with representatives of key targets, and at this stage, I would say that Ben Chilwell and Declan Rice seem to be storylines we can expect to hear a lot more on soon,” Jones responded when asked to name other Chelsea prospects aside from Havertz.

Aside from Chilwell and Rice, Jones also pointed out that since Chelsea has the money to fund a massive transfer move, he expects the Blues to consider signing an array of stars this summer.

“They had the [Eden] Hazard money. They had the transfer ban where they couldn't spend money. And now they have the budget that had already been set aside for this window. I expect them to sign a center back, left-back, forward...and maybe a keeper. [Milan] Skriniar, [Kalidou] Koulibaly, Chilwell and Havertz are the tier-one targets there,” Jones said.

Despite the evident interest in bringing in big names into the squad, Jones revealed that he also learned from sources that Chelsea is “holding talks” to keep its current stars Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.

“All I have heard on this one is that Chelsea are holding talks with Jorginho and Kante to get an understanding of where their minds are at right now. I don't think the club wants to sell either of them,” he added.

Chelsea’s only competition in signing Havertz is Bundesliga champ Bayern Munich. However, Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeness recently told FAZ that following a big splurge on midfield star Leroy Sane, they can't imagine making another huge bid for Havertz unless they “secure counter-financing through player sales.”

Havertz is currently valued around £80 million ($105 million), a price tag many believe Chelsea can afford.
