The betting odds continue to suggest that the Chicago Bears are not nearly as good as their record might indicate since they are sizable underdogs in Week 7.

The Los Angeles Rams are favored by six points over Chicago on “Monday Night Football,” according to lines compiled by OddsShark. The over/under is 45.

The game will be played in LA. Fans are not scheduled to be in attendance. Playing in an empty stadium gives the Rams little home-field advantage. The six-point spread probably means Los Angeles is considered to be about five points better than Chicago on a neutral field.

Chicago doesn’t have the most impressive resume through six weeks of the 2020 NFL season.

The Bears narrowly defeated the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons, both of whom have only one win. Chicago needed a big comeback to defeat the 2-3 Detroit Lions. The team’s last win came over the 3-3 Carolina Panthers.

On “Thursday Night Football” in Week 5, the Bears got their most impressive victory, defeating Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-19. Chicago’s one loss was a 19-11 defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Rams have a 4-2 record, putting them a game behind the Bears in the NFC standings. Los Angeles’ resume isn’t any better than that of Chicago, considering the team has beat up on a historically weak division.

All of Los Angeles’ wins have come against the NFC East. Every team in the division has a losing record.

The Rams are coming off a 24-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Buffalo Bills beat Los Angeles 35-32 in Week 3, thwarting a potential 25-point comeback victory.

There’s no doubt that the Rams have the better offense in Monday’s matchup. LA is 10th in both total offense and yards per play, while Chicago doesn’t rank better than 28th in either category. Jared Goff has a 101.4 passer rating. Bears head coach Matt Nagy benched Mitchell Trubisky, and the team is only scoring 18 points per game in Nick Foles’ three starts.

Both the Bears and Rams rank in the top seven in total defense, points allowed and opponents’ yards per play. Los Angeles has struggled to score in its rare meetings with good defenses. Chicago hasn’t given up more than 23 points in any game.

The Bears beat the Rams 15-6 in the 2018 season. In their meeting last year, Los Angeles defeated Chicago 17-7.

Expect another close, low-scoring contest between these two teams.

Prediction: Los Angeles over Chicago 17-13
