Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have reached the final stages in their divorce process. The “Iron Man 3” actress filed paperwork nearly one year ago but got no answer from her now-estranged husband. After receiving warnings from the court about a potential dismissal, the former couple is ready to move forward with the finalization.

According to TMZ, Martin, 39, chose not to immediately respond to Paltrow’s divorce filing in an effort to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Sources claim both parties wanted to reach a decision about the division of assets and custody of their children. They have since agreed to share joint custody of Apple, 11, and Moses, 9. A property division agreement is said to have been outlined, though the details have not been made public. There is reportedly one last document that Paltrow, 43, and Coldplay front-man Martin need to sign before the divorce is final. Sources tell TMZ the process should be complete in a few days.

Although Paltrow and Martin are no longer a couple, they remain close. In an interview with Glamour magazine in February, the mother of two said they have a “great” relationship, adding that Martin has become “like a brother” to her. Paltrow said that he often stays over at her home to surprise their children. In fact, she said he’d stayed over the night before the interview and they all shared breakfast the following morning before Martin brought them to school.

“So...we’re not living together, but he’s more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants. And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids. We’ll have a weekend all together; holidays, we’re together,” she told the publication.

Paltrow married the Coldplay singer in December 2003. They separated 11 years later in March 2014. It was not until the following year, however, that Paltrow filed divorce documents. In a statement on her website, Goop.com, the actress claimed that while she and Martin love one another, “conscious uncoupling” was the best option for them.

“We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been,” her statement read.

Martin has since been linked to Jennifer Lawrence — though the pair reportedly split in 2015 — and British actress Annabelle Wallis. Paltrow has also moved on. She has reportedly been dating director Brad Falchuck for well over a year.
