Although Judy Reyes’ Quiet Ann has very minimal lines on TNT’s new drama series “Claws,” the actress admitted that playing the character isn’t easy.

“It’s … hard,” Reyes said of bringing Quiet Ann to life in a recent interview with Latina. “To play it with as little words as possible is a true challenge.”

The 49-year-old actress told Modern Brown Girl that playing a very silent character like Quiet Ann was a “scary thing” for her because she’s used to portraying roles that speak a lot. “I think as an actress you are used to making your career with words and stuff,” said Reyes. “[So] it’s been nerve-wracking and challenging to make Quiet Ann real.”

While Quiet Ann only had short few lines in the first half of Season 1, Reyes assured fans that her character will do more talking in the remaining episodes of the season. “I think as the show progresses, as she evolves in terms of her relationships, you’ll experience her talking more,” Reyes said in an interview with AfterBuzz TV.

Although Quiet Ann is a tough character to play, Reyes said that she’s grateful for landing the part because it’s unlike any other roles she has done before.

“Playing Quiet Ann is really different for me,” Reyes, who is best known for her role as Carla Espinosa on NBC-turned-ABC series “Scrubs,” said during an interview with KTLA 5. “I was really impressed that I got the gig because in this business, when you’re a recognized or understood as a certain type of character, it’s very hard to get a part that is a departure from what you’ve played.”

“So when I went in for it, I was like ‘I don’t think I’m gonna get this job,’” the actress recalled. “My manager was like, ‘You know what, go anyway.’ And I went to my acting coach Martha Gehman, who is this outstanding teacher. She said, ‘You got this. You’re perfect for it.’ I was like, ‘Alright,’ and I put myself on tape and I submitted it. … To make a very long story short, several meetings later, I got the job.”
