On the heels of a new massacre in Syria -- this time in the city of Hama, where pro-regime militiamen have been accused of slaughtering 78 civilians on Wednesday -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has once again condemned the government of Bashar al-Assad and its unconscionable crackdown on dissidents, which has so far lasted 15 months and resulted in between 10,000 and 15,000 deaths.

The regime-sponsored violence that we witnessed again in Hama yesterday is simply unconscionable, Clinton stated.

Assad has doubled down on his brutality and duplicity, and Syria will not, cannot be peaceful, stable or certainly democratic until Assad goes.
