The Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs last season with an 8-8 record. Cornerback Byron Jones and defensive end Robert Quinn left in free agency, signing the largest contracts of any players that have changed teams this offseason.

Still, expectations for the Cowboys in the 2020 NFL season are extremely high.

Dallas isn’t simply the betting favorite to win the NFC East. Some sportsbooks have made the Cowboys odds-on favorites to finish in first place.

Bovada gives Dallas -105 odds to win the division. A season after winning the division, the Philadelphia Eagles have +120 odds to successfully repeat as NFC East champions.

The Eagles went 9-7, reaching the playoffs for a third straight year. A 17-9 victory over Dallas in Week 16 ultimately gave Philadelphia the edge in the division.

The New York Giants (+1100) and Washington Redskins (+1600) are long shots to win the division. Neither team won five games in 2019.

The Cowboys had the No.1 ranked offense in the NFL last season. Dallas used the franchise tag to prevent Dak Prescott from hitting free agency. Amari Cooper was a free agent for a few days before re-signing with the Cowboys for five years and $100 million.

Prescott finished second in the NFL with 4,902 passing yards and fourth with 30 passing touchdowns. Cooper has 14 receiving touchdowns since being traded to Dallas in October 2018, leading all wide receivers during that span.

Ezekiel Elliott is averaging 96.5 rushing yards per game during his four-year career with Dallas. The Cowboys drafted highly touted receiver CeeDee Lamb in the first round.

The Cowboys have never had a losing record in four seasons with Prescott as the starting quarterback, making two trips to the divisional round of the playoffs. Dallas hopes new head coach Mike McCarthy can help the team get over the hump and get them to the conference championship game for the first time in 25 years.

Defensive tackles Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy joined the Cowboys in free agency. Dallas ranked ninth in total defense last season.
