The topic of Tom Brady’s future will dominate the NFL until free agency begins in March. The six-time Super Bowl champion is no longer under contract with the New England Patriots, and there seems to be a real chance that Brady will play for a different team for the first time in his career.

The Los Angeles Chargers are viewed as the most likely team to lure Brady away from New England. The Indianapolis Colts have been speculated as a possibility. Even the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers have been mentioned in the discussion.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on “Get Up” Thursday morning that he thinks if Brady plays elsewhere, it will be for a team that no one saw coming. Who could that possibly be?

Based on pure speculation, here is a look at three dark-horse candidates to sign Brady for the 2020 NFL season. No team that has better than 10/1 odds to sign Brady at BetOnline (Chargers, Cowboys, Raiders, Colts, Panthers, Browns and Buccaneers) can be considered for this exercise.

Miami Dolphins +1400

Maybe Brady won’t go chasing a championship in 2020. His legacy as the greatest winner in NFL history is already intact. Since the Dolphins aren’t a legitimate contender that has a strong supporting cast, Brady probably wouldn’t receive much criticism for a poor season in Miami. If Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, is going to have a major say in his next destination, Miami might be among the most logical choices. Signing Brady to mentor Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as he returns from a serious injury might be the Dolphins’ dream offseason scenario.

Chicago Bears +1600

The Bears have all the elements of a realistic Tom Brady destination. They play in a major market and have a championship-level defense. Chicago could’ve potentially made a Super Bowl run in each of the last two years if they had even a slightly above-average quarterback. General manager Ryan Pace has said publicly that Mitchell Trubisky will return as the team’s starting quarterback, but it’s hard to believe the Bears would pass up the chance to replace one of the league’s worst signal callers with arguably the greatest football player of all time. Chicago can easily move on from Trubisky, who has one year left on his contract.

New Orleans Saints +1600

This scenario is entirely contingent upon Drew Brees retiring. The Saints’ quarterback is likely to return since he’s still one of the league’s best passers, but it’s at least a realistic possibility that he calls it quits. Brees is without a contract for next season and is about to turn 41 years old. He has already won a Super Bowl and owns just about every major career passing record. After being saddled with a subpar group of playmakers in 2019, Brady might jump at the chance to play with Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook.
