Being stranded on an island with no hope for rescue anytime soon was bad enough. But now that Paul is afflicted with Jungle Madness and has become a dangerous threat to their existence, the concern for him is at an all-time high on the Wednesday, June 7 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Previously on the NBC soap, the Titan jet carrying Sonny (Freddie Smith), Paul (Christopher Sean), JJ (Casey Moss), Lani (Sal Stowers), Eli (Lamon Archey), Gabi (Camilla Banus) and Chad (Billy Flynn) back from Greece crashed on the island they have all started to call their temporary home. The situation was bleak, but manageable, until JJ and Lani discovered a human skull in the sand, as well as a journal which indicated the mosquitoes on the island could transmit Jungle Madness, a disease that quickly takes over the victim and causes them to do out of character things, like commit murder.

After Eli seemed to go missing, a search party commenced to find him, with Gabi staying behind due to her sprained ankle. While everyone was out searching, Gabi was knocked out with a rock that was smashed onto her head. Shockingly, the person who did it was Paul, who has already contracted the illness, which no one yet knew. Afterwards, the group got back together and was stunned when Eli stumbled back to them, bleeding from a cut on his arm, and pointing a gun at Paul. Paul then took off, and Eli missed the shot he took when Sonny stopped him. However, Eli swears that Paul tried to kill him, and attacked him with a knife.

Now, everyone is aware that Paul is clearly afflicted with Jungle Madness, and is therefore, a serious danger to them all, as well as himself. The only way that Eli sees fit to deal with Paul now is to contain him permanently, by killing him. This is news that will devastate Sonny, who has finally promised Paul he will be committed to being a better partner to him, after his obsession with taking over Titan nearly tore them apart.

Sonny will become increasingly more concerned for Paul’s safety, not only because of what he could do while sick, but because it is obvious that Eli won't hesitate to take him down if he makes another appearance. He will fear that one again he may lose a partner, and after being forced to grieve his husband Will’s murder while he was in Paris, Sonny doesn’t want to deal with losing someone else so tragically, even if that person is a danger.

As his concern grows, he could find himself trying to find Paul first and see if he can help him, even though Paul’s illness could mean that he isn’t safe either. If Paul is officially on his way to becoming a cold-blooded killer, the love his healthy self has for Sonny won’t be enough to keep him safe.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
