Days of Our Lives
Theo (Kyler Pettis) says goodbye to his family and friends on the Jan. 17, 2018 episode of "Days of Our Lives."   NBC

He managed to wake up from a coma after being shot, but the fact that he needs to learn how to walk once again and must go to a treatment clinic in South Africa to do it will force Theo to say some emotional goodbyes to his loved ones in Salem on the Wednesday, Jan. 17 episode of "Days of Our Lives."

Theo (Kyler Pettis) was given a miracle on Christmas, after he woke up from a coma no one believed he's make it out of on the NBC soap. He seemed to be on the brink of death after JJ (Casey Moss) mistakenly shot him when he seemed to be guilty of a break-in. Since he woke up, JJ has been forgiven by his family for what happened, and he has once again cemented how much he loves his girlfriend Claire (Olivia Keegan), by informing Ciara (Victoria Konefal) that he only wants friendship with her these days. However, the good news was all short-lived for everyone, after a new medical diagnosis confirmed that he had suffered great nerve damage from the shooting—and needed to participate in a clinical trial in South Africa if he wanted the hope of ever walking again.

Though he initially didn't want to go, Theo later decided it was in his best interest. However, he also maintained he needed to go alone, meaning he would leave loved ones like Claire, Ciara, and of course, his father, Abe (James Reynolds) and sister, Lani (Sal Stowers) behind.

Now, as he prepares to leave town, he will share emotional goodbyes with all of them, especially Claire, who was heartbroken that he had to leave, because despite Ciara's insistence that she didn't believe she loved him, she has truly fallen for him. While she may in fact wind up receiving comfort from Tripp (Lucas Adams) later on, at the moment, her heart is still with Theo, and she is upset he's leaving.

Ciara will also be very upset about his departure from town. She only just returned to town after moving to Hong Kong when she felt betrayed by both him and Claire for their roles in her failed love life. Even though Theo made it clear he wasn't interested in a romance with her, she will still be devastated that her best friend is leaving town as well.

"Days of Our Lives" airs weekdays on NBC.
