  • Sergino Dest isn't in Xavi's plans anymore at Barcelona
  • Barcelona are targeting either Bellerin or Foyth
  • Barca have labeled Dest with an asking price of $20 million

FC Barcelona have reportedly turned down a swap deal proposal from Manchester United ahead of the 2022 summer deadline day.

Manchester United and Barcelona were in talks regarding a swap deal that would see Red Devils' Aaron Wan-Bissaka move to Camp Nou and Catalans' Sergino Dest to Old Trafford. However, Barcelona were not keen on the exchange deal and have rejected Manchester United's proposal, ESPN reported.

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez has informed full-back Dest that he isn't in the team's plans anymore and should look for another club. While the American defender is open to moving to Manchester United, negotiations between the clubs aren't progressing at the moment with Thursday being the deadline day of the 2022 summer market.

Dest has not played a single game for Barcelona in the ongoing 2022-23 season. After he was an unused substitute in Barcelona's opening game that ended in a 0-0 draw, he was not even in the squad for their recent matches against Real Sociedad and Real Valladolid, which the Catalans won 4-1 and 4-0.

If Manchester United are willing to sign Dest without the swap deal, they'll have to match Barcelona's asking price of around $20 million, which the La Liga giants paid Ajax in 2020 to secure the Spanish defender.

Meanwhile, considering Barcelona's wish to offload Dest, the Camp Nou side may be willing to negotiate a loan fee with an option to make the deal permanent may even be considered, the ESPN report claimed further.

Regardless of Dest's situation, Xavi has decided to sign a new right-back, with Villarreal's Juan Foyth and Arsenal's Hector Bellerin on their radar, according to 90Min.

Foyth is Barcelona's current top priority and if they fail to sign the Argentinean defender, they have decided to go after Bellerin, who has entered the final year of his contract with Arsenal.

While Arsenal are looking to sell Bellerin, Barcelona have approached the Gunners with an inquiry about a loan deal instead. There's also a chance of Bellerin leaving the Emirates side as a free agent before the summer window closes in the next few hours, as per the same 90Min report.
