Computer maker Dell Inc. said on Tuesday that it will begin offering new high performance computers and monitors aimed at enticing gamers and enthusiasts.

The Round Rock Tex.-based company added the 710 computer to its performance XPS line, which offers Intel's Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor as an option. The chip is Intel's fastest consumer processor to date.

The CPU will enable the system to perform up to 55 percent faster than Intel's Core 2 Extreme processor - the fastest CPU available in Dell's previous XPS models.

Dell also rolled out its new 30 UltraSharp LCD monitor, which features an 8-millisecond response time ideal for gaming, along with integrated media readers and USB ports.

The XPS 710 is available immediately, with prices starting at $3,699. The Dell Ultrasharp LCD is available in the U.S. on Nov. 21 with a starting price of $1,699.
