Princess Diana and former king Juan Carlos of Spain were rumored to have had an affair.

According to Daily Mail’s Glenys Roberts, the Princess of Wales may have been one of the many young ladies that seducer Don Juan pursued. The former king reportedly bedded more than 1,500 women.

In 1986, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Majorca. Prince Charles was never at ease on the sunshine island. However, Princess Diana loves lounging in yachts in her stylish bathing suits.

During their trip in Spain, Barcelona-based author Pilar Eyre alleged that she told her bodyguard Ken Wharfe that Juan Carlos fancied her.

The former king reportedly made all sorts of excuses to get tactile with her. He used to love bending down with her and inviting her to stroke his old German shepherd dog, Archie.

Royal biography Lady Colin Campbell also insisted that Princess Diana and Juan Carlos embarked on an affair while on a cruise with their spouses in August 1986.

“Diana did it to make Charles jealous, but it didn’t work,” Lady Colin said. “Charles couldn’t have cared less.”

Eyre added that the rumors about Princess Diana and Juan Carlos intensified over a curious case of some photos of the People’s Princess in a state of undress. It was taken off the market when someone from Spain paid $45,000 or them. There were rumors that the person who bought the photos was Juan Carlos to protect the princess’ reputation.

Eyre claimed that Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia have not shared a bed for 35 years already. However, he made it clear that he would never divorce his wife.

Also, the author added that in the macho country like Spain, a womanizer king makes him even more popular.

“Even the women don’t reproach him. On the contrary, they love him because he has such a seductive manner with them. But they don’t feel the same about poor Queen Sofia,” Eyre wrote.

Last month, People reported that the king is considering his retirement after abdicating the throne. The 81-year-old royal shared his plans to withdraw from his public duties in a letter to his son, King Felipe VI.

Juan Carlos abdicated the throne, so his son could start his reign earlier. “I do not want my son to wither waiting like Prince Charles,” he told El Mundo newspaper.
