Once again directed by Kenny Ortega, the third film in the “Descendants” franchise premieres on Disney Channel tonight, and fans can expect original cast members to return and old songs to be reprised, as well as new stars and songs.

According to the “Descendants 3” synopsis, “This highly anticipated trequel continues the contemporary saga of good versus evil as the teenage daughters and sons of Disney’s most infamous villains—Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as the villain kids or VKs)—return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep.

“When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.”

The returning cast includes Dove Cameron (Mal), Sofia Carson (Evie), the late Cameron Boyce (Carlos), Booboo Stewart (Jay), Thomas Doherty (Harry), Dylan Playfair (Gil), Anna Cathcart (Dizzy), China Anne McClain (Uma), Mitchell Hope (Ben), Sarah Jeffrey (Audrey), Jedidiah Goodacre (Chad), Brenna D’Amico (Jane) and Zachary Gibson (Doug).

The new stars joining as “Descendants 3” characters are Cheyenne Jackson (“American Horror Story”) as Hades, Jamal Sims (“Aladdin”) as Dr. Facilier and Jadah Marie (“Mann and Wife”) as his daughter, Celia.

Just like with the previous movies, there will be a soundtrack full of original songs from the film for fans to listen to and enjoy over and over again.
