TV host, political satirist and stand-up comedian Bill Maher knows a good joke when he sees one. On his HBO political talk show, "Real Time with Bill Maher," Maher made the "prediction" Donald Trump Jr. will be the presidential nominee of the Republican Party in 2024.

And why did he make this prediction? To warn us strongmen and dictators have the tendency to bequeath their power and position to their sons.

"I'll tell ya, do you know who I think is going to be the nominee in 2024? Don Jr.," said Maher to the panel of guests at his show. His remarks sparked loud laughter from both his guests and the audience.

To which Maher quipped, "Yeah, they laughed when I said Trump would win, too, because that's what third-world dictators do."

He then rightfully pointed out dictators like Syria's Bashar al-Assad and North Korea's Kim Jong-un inherited their power and position from their dictator fathers. Maher told his guests "this is what they (dictators) do."

"So don't think it can't happen here," warned Maher dead-faced. "I've said it many times, but just remember -- these are the good old days. One year from now, this country is going to be in a s---storm like we have never seen because he will likely have lost the election, Trump, and he probably will not leave. And what is the plan? That's what I want to know from every Democrat."

Enter Don Jr. who Maher tongue-in-cheek said might make his own presidential run. But Don Jr. will first have to get past former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

Maher said Haley's fawning over Trump might be driven by her desire to become president in 2024. She's apparently starting on that long road by kissing-up to Trump's loyal base of supporters and trying to make it her own.

"I thought she was one of the more reasonable ones," said Maher of Haley. "She kind of acquitted herself at her job at the U.N... she went full-on Team Deplorable this week."

Maher aired video of Haley's recent interviews. One has her claiming Trump had always been "truthful" to her. She also defended Trump amid the impeachment inquiry, where she dared foes of the president to "show me the proof" Trump did something wrong in his interactions with Ukraine.

Maher said Haley's obsequiousness is part of her plan to dominate the post-Trump GOP.

"This is the scariest thing this week because this is somebody who is betting that there is no more Republican-Classic party, there is only Trump, and she thinks, 'Well, after he's gone, I'll be able to rejoin polite society,'" according to Maher. "But when you do this, you're destroying polite society. This is so scary to me."
