Microsoft announced that it has expanded the availability of the Office on Android for tablets preview. It’s now possible for more customers to download preview apps by requesting access to the Office Google Community.

Microsoft Office is expected to be widely available on Android tablets in early 2015, but customers trying to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint or the other programs can do so immediately with the preview program. Although they do need the system requirements: either Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or Android 4.4 (KitKat) and a tablet screen between 7 inches and 10.1 inches. The Office Suite is already available for the Apple iPad.

“Over the last two months, we have heard from people all over the world who want the power of Office on their Android tablet,” Microsoft wrote in a blog post announcing the news. “The feedback we’ve received through this initial phase of preview has helped us shape and optimize the Office experience for Android tablet users…We want more feedback from more users to ensure that Office apps work well on a range of different Android tablets before launching the official app.”

Office for Android, known simply as Office Mobile, is currently available for free for Android smartphone users, though users are required to pay for advanced features.
