KEY POINTS

  • "Elden Ring" was released on Feb. 25
  • The game is playable on various gaming platforms
  • Neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco has said anything related to the game's DLC

FromSoftware has yet to reveal its DLC plans for the recently launched critically acclaimed game "Elden Ring," but it appears that gamers have beaten the developers in announcing it following a recent in-game discovery of the supposed Multiplayer Arena DLC.

The discovery was made and shared online by "Soulsborne" modder and player Lance McDonald through their YouTube channel. According to them, they were able to get into an inaccessible area on the map by using a mod.

They uncovered a hidden colosseum within the world of "Elden Ring," which was seemingly built for PVP multiplayer. This triggered speculations that the location will be unlocked through a new update or downloadable content (DLC).

"Elden Ring will probably get a multiplayer arena DLC sometime in the future based on this out-of-bounds video I recorded of a currently inaccessible area in the game," the modder tweeted. Competitive one vs. one multiplayer fights is not yet available in the game, but it has previously appeared in the series.

While neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco has confirmed any post-release expansion at the moment, large updates have been a staple of the franchise. The gaming studio had released updates and expansions for almost every game in the past.

This includes "Bloodborne," "Dark Souls" and "Dark Souls III," which all received sizeable expansions post-launch. With the open-world setup and massive map of "Elden Ring," it is highly likely that more areas like this colosseum will be uncovered soon.

A similar arena with a large pot guarding it exists on the in-game map. However, it requires players to fight to invade AI and it seemingly supports the idea that these arenas will soon become accessible in the game.

The idea of the game getting a new DLC at some point is not at all surprising since almost all action RPG titles have them these days.

"Elden Ring" was released on Feb. 25. It is currently playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows.
