  • Social media ups speculation that Tesla Cybertruck will be sent to space as a payload
  • Elon Musk replies it is likely on the Starship
  • SpaceX sent Tesla Roadster to space in 2018

Tesla’s newly unveiled electric pickup Cybertruck continues to excite and the latest discourse on social media speculates Cybertruck may go to space as a payload.

Musk also commented in response to a tech entrepreneur’s Twitter video that showed a Falcon Heavy carrying a Cybertruck during a launch calling it “more than epic.”

In response, Musk suggested a better rocket:

“Maybe on Starship? It’s def got the payload capacity…

Musk-led SpaceX has been building a spaceship for interplanetary missions including Mars missions and lunar missions. Therefore SpaceX's launch of Cybetruck is not ruled out, reports Futurism.

Musk has a history of sending cars into the orbit. In early 2018, he launched the Falcon Heavy rocket and sent his personal red Tesla Roadster as a payload.

According to the Inverse report, the chance of Cybertruck going into space looks bright as the hint by Elon Musk is eloquent.

Cybertruck may go to Mars

There is a possibility that Cybertruck's destination can be Mars given Musk’s take that a pressurized version would be the official truck of the company’s Mars city plan.

The first-generation Roadster weighing 2,877 pounds was carried by the Falcon Heavy rocket. Starship has an estimated payload capacity of 220,000 pounds and can scale up further to whopping 330,000 pounds.

So, Starship looks perfect to lift Cybertruck that is deemed “weighty” as it had videos showing how it is pulling a Ford F-150 uphill with extreme ease.

SpaceX is readying to send a prototype rocket to orbit early next year, although the commercial mission is slated in 2021. Production of Cybertruck will start only by late 2021 making SpaceX options on Cybetruck to either launch a prototype model, delay the first flight or drop the idea altogether.

Meanwhile, Cybertruck has become the new fixture in many polls analyzing the pickup’s market impact when it takes on entrenched players and a newbie like Amazon backed Rivian.

One benefit of the raging debate is that it is a good marketing exercise as the publicity could invite more pre-orders before the truck’s launch.

SpaceX last week completed another mission successfully as it launched a spacecraft loaded with 5,700 pounds of supplies including 'mighty mice' to the International Space Station on Dec. 5, Thursday.

The SpaceX launch of Dragon capsule was propelled by a Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will link up with ISS on Sunday, CNN reported.
