Former flames Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, who both received Emmy nominations this year, may reunite once more during the upcoming virtual ceremony.

On Tuesday, host Leslie Jones and presenters Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany, and Laverne Cox announced the nominees for the 72nd Emmy Awards, which include Aniston and Pitt. The "Friends" alum got a nod for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her role in Apple TV+'s "The Morning Show."

The "World War Z" star, meanwhile, was nominated for the 2020 Emmy Award for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his work on "Saturday Night Live," where he played Dr. Anthony Fauci in an episode.

Although it is unlikely that they will meet in person, Aniston and Pitt may cross paths during the virtual event, E! News noted. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the Emmy Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on Sept. 20.

Earlier this year, the famous exes sparked an online frenzy when they reunited at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

During the 2020 SAG Awards In January, Pitt and Aniston, who won in different categories, had fans going haywire when they shared a hug at a press room. Many witnesses captured snaps of the former flames smiling and holding hands as they talked to each other.

Pitt and Aniston first crossed paths in the ‘90s when their agents set them up, Marie Claire reported. They made their relationship red carpet official in September 1999 when they graced the Emmys together. Just a few months later, they attended a Sting concert where they showed off her engagement ring.

Aniston and Pitt tied the knot in 2000 in a lavish and star-studded wedding in Malibu. They also attended the Emmy Awards together during the same year.

Pitt and Aniston continued to grace prestigious award shows together in the next few years until he starred in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," where he was paired opposite Angelina Jolie.

In 2005, Pitt and Aniston split and released a joint statement, saying, "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration."

Later on, Jolie admitted that sparks flew on the set of the action film, People reported.

"I think a few months in I realized, 'God, I can’t wait to get to work,'" the "Maleficent" star said. "Whether it was shooting a scene or arguing about a scene or gun practice or dance class or doing stunts—anything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork."
