Porsha (R- Ta'Rhonda Jones) flanks "Empire" star Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) in Season 1. Jones will now be promoted to a series regular in the cast for Season 2. Fox

After an incredible 17 million viewers tuned in for the Season 1 finale of "Empire," Fox’s hot new show is on its way to only getting bigger. Although a premiere date for the second season has yet to be announced, the drama has already decided to up two cast members to series regulars, TVLine confirms.

Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) beleaguered assistant Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) has been promoted to a series regular for Season 2, as well as Cookie Lyon’s (Taraji P. Henson) assistant, Porsha (Ta'Rhonda Jones). The pair usually seen trailing behind their power couple bosses left Season 1 much as they had started it, but a move to cast regulars may give them a story boost. When audiences last watched Porsha, she had accidently let slip to Lucious about Cookie's romantic weekend out of the city. Becky was last seen taking notes for Lucious' during his arrest in the finale.

The Season 1 finale of "Empire" ended with Lucious locked-up for murder, a move orchestrated by his power-hungry sons, Andre (Trai Byers) and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray). The middle Lyon child, Jamal (Jussie Smollett), took his father’s place on-stage for a special performance, making him a symbolic heir in the public eye. Lucious' ex-wife Cookie began plans for her own success, including getting a new love interest.

Season 2 of "Empire" has yet to hit production. Hints from guest star Serayah McNeill, who played Hakeem’s musical partner Tiana Brown, suggest fans can look forward to more music and love to be found in the family drama. Stay tuned for more “Empire” news as it’s announced.
