“Empire” could be getting a taste of "Scandal" in Season 2. According to former ABC star Columbus Short, he could be joining the hit Fox drama when it returns.

"Big things are happening," he teased in a recent Access Hollywood Live interview (via E! Online). "I'm going to be bridging my music career with my acting career."

The 32-year-old actor revealed that it wasn't official that he was joining "Empire," but he added that it "wouldn't be a shock."

Short was on "Access Hollywood" to promote his latest movie, “The Girl Is in Trouble.” In the flick, produced by Spike Lee and co-starring Wilmer Valderrama, Short plays an aspiring deejay who is thrown into the drug underworld after the murder of a friend.

This isn’t the first time Short has homed in on his musical talents before. His previous career as a choreographer paired him with Britney Spears for her "Onyx Hotel Tour" in 2004. Short was cast in several other music- and dance-heavy movies including “Stomp the Yard,” “Cadillac Records” and “Save the Last Dance 2.” In the interview, Short mentioned he was working on his music in Atlanta.

Short formerly played Harrison Wright in the hit ABC show “Scandal.” Harrison was a part of Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) team since the beginning of the series in 2012. Three seasons later, the actor was written off after a string of legal troubles including aggravated battery, intoxication and domestic abuse. Harrison was killed when he figured out Rowan and Tom’s betrayal and their role in murdering President Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) son.

Last month at a Paley TV event, Kerry Washington asked a fan to respect the cast and crew’s privacy regarding a question about Short's exit.

Fox has not announced a formal return date for “Empire” Season 2. “The Girl Is in Trouble” is out in select theaters and VOD April 3.
