KEY POINTS

  • Epic Games has added a new auto-refund feature for subcribers
  • Refunds can only be made for games within 14 days and not played for more than two hours
  • Money will be returned depending on the type of payment method used

Epic Games has been the talk of the town lately, mostly because of "Grand Theft Auto 5." The game was offered for free last May 14 and will continue to do so until May 21.

The only problem is that there were a lot of people who took them up on the offer and such has resulted to the Rockstar game servers going down. The Epic Games site was not spared from downtime as well, something expected since many took them up on their offer.

Being a free game, "Grand Theft Auto 5" will not be among the games covered in the new development update that Epic Games is offering. The new feature is called self-service refunds for customers which is pretty self-explanatory. However, there are things to consider for subscribers should they at some point decide on a refund which is now live on Epic Games accounts.

There are several things to consider before applying for a refund on a purchased game. Purchased games can only be refunded within 14 days when they were bought. Epic Games will allow subscribers to refund their game provided they have not played it for more than two hours during that span.

Aside from that, customers who want to refund a game need to make sure that they did not violate anything on the terms and services of the company. This includes abusing the return policy feature. If none of the two apply, subscribers can request a refund through their account. That is found at the Transactions tab located at the right hand of the menu.

From there, all an Epic Games account holder has to do is scroll down and find the transaction that they want to be refunded. The money will be returned to the payment method used in purchasing the game title. It should be noted though that the time it takes to return the payment depends on the type of payment method used.

Aside from the refund feature, there were a couple of other new features introduced. That included changes in ownership authorization and keyless integration for third-party digital sales platforms, PC Gamer reported. For the first one, players will be informed if the game they are launching is theirs or not. If not, a message will appear and tell them to purchase the game at the store. Aside from those, there is also a new download option present to aid users in controlling their bandwidth.
