Errol Spence Jr.’s trainer Derrick James addressed his pupil’s recovery and said that people saying that the champ is “doing worse” are all haters.

Even before defeating two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter, Spence is already regarded as one of the best present-day fighters in the world. The American champ was oat the peak of his boxing career when a devastating car crash immediately sidelined him into potentially becoming the world’s greatest welterweight champion.

It has been a month since Spence injured himself and boxing fans are already speculating about his true condition. Just recently, Spence’s trainer James shed light on his recovery status and stated that he hasn’t talked to Spence yet but he is positive that his pupil is “doing good.”

“I haven’t talked to him, but he’s doing good from what I understand,” Spence’s trainer James told Fighthype.com

“Yeah, he’s doing okay. I haven’t seen him but I know he’s okay,” James insisted.

While nobody really has an idea with how Spence is doing at the moment, the champ has been rumored to be in a worst condition following the accident. In another interview with EsNews, James shut down all the said rumors and exclaimed that Spence’s hater are the only ones spreading the negative news.

“People are hoping for the worst. There’s a lot of hate man. Why would you start a rumor like that,” James exclaimed.

As a supportive trainer, some believe that James may have just stated all this because he didn’t want to discuss Spence’s physical condition with news reporters. Logically, if Spence is in bad condition, it might be something that his team would want to keep to themselves rather than broadcast to the world.

Spence crashed his Ferrari 488 Spider at 2:53 A.M. on October 10 in Dallas. Reports claim that he was speeding at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle as he wasn’t also wearing a seat-belt. It was also noted that Spence suffered no broken bones, but had facial lacerations.

Due to the severity of the crash, some reports stated that Spence is more injured than what was previously reported. His injuries are so bad that they may never fight again, Boxing News 24 reported.

Prior to hurting himself, Spence was on his way to get the fights he needs to become the best fighter in the world. In fact, he was even vocal about fighting Manny Pacquiao next year. He was also linked to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and has considered fighting the Mexican champ in the future as well.
