Former Major League Baseball star, Josh Hamilton, is currently facing a felony charge of injuring a child following being reported to the police by his ex-wife Katie Hamilton who says that their daughter informed her that Hamilton was allegedly violent with the teenage daughter.

Hamilton, 38, turned himself over to authorities at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas last Wednesday. Once apprehended, he was charged with the third-degree felony, ESPN reported. Hamilton was released after posting a $35,000 bond.

ESPN obtained the affidavit written by a detective who is working on the case with the Keller Police Department. Based on the documents, Hamilton’s 14-year-old daughter told police that her father viciously hit her in the chest with a bottle. He had lunged at the teen after she said something that had angered him.

Prior to the assault, she stated that Hamilton was yelling and cursing at her. His father then pulled the chair she was using to rest her feet on and began throwing the chair until it broke.

The documents accused Hamilton of roughly grabbing his daughter by the shoulder and lifting her off of the chair causing her to fall to the floor. Next, he allegedly grabbed her from the floor, thrust her over his shoulders and carried her into her bedroom. The girl told authorities that she had begun to frighteningly apologize to Hamilton as he took her to the bedroom.

However, he allegedly threw her onto the bed and violently mashed her face into the mattress. Hamilton continued to assault the teenager and began hitting her legs with both an open hand and a closed fist, the document added.

Once the assault ceased, he proceeded to tell the teen, “I hope you go in front of the f--king judge and tell him what a terrible dad I am so I don't have to see you anymore and you don't have to come to my house again,” the affidavit continued.

Hamilton then exited out of the room and allegedly told the child to get her school things in order. The child informed her father that she had already completed the task and had placed her things into his car. Hamilton then allegedly responded, “Well, aren't you just the perfect child."

The investigation started once the child told her mother about the events of the alleged assault, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Katie Hamilton shares three daughters with her ex-husband. However, according to court documents, the child’s mother had requested a protective order against Hamilton earlier this month due to other allegations of child abuse.

Hamilton’s attorneys, Daniel Lewis and Thomas Ashworth, informed reporters that the former MBL star “is innocent of the charge against him and looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

During the reign of his MBL career, Hamilton played for the Cincinnati Reds, the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. However, due to his struggle with alcoholism and drug abuse his career was cut short. He bid farewell on the field in 2015 and had been inducted into the Rangers’ Hall of Fame earlier this year.
