Former NFL running back Frank Gore has been charged with simple assault in connection with an alleged incident of domestic violence in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Patrol units were dispatched at the Tropicana Atlantic City on July 31, 2022, at 8:11 AM, in response to a report of domestic violence dispute, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a press release Tuesday.

Upon reaching the Havana Tower of the resort, cops found the victim, identified as a 28-year-old woman from Miami, Florida, speaking with hotel security. No complaints were filed at the time as the woman "did not exhibit signs of injury."

While Gore was not immediately taken into custody, further investigation resulted in the 39-year-old being charged.

"An ensuing investigation resulted in Franklin Gore being charged with simple assault related to the domestic violence incident," the press release added.

Gore is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing in mid-October, New York Post reported.

According to court documents acquired by TMZ, Gore grabbed the victim by her hair and then dragged her across the hallway of a hotel room during an altercation.

As per documents, the 39-year-old accused grabbed the woman by her hair, "violently dragging her nude person along the floor of the 59th hallway," as per TMZ.

There have been no comments or updates on the allegations from Gore or his team.

Named one of the greatest NFL running backs, Gore announced his retirement in June 2022, after signing a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers. After a splendid 16-year professional feat, he played his last season in the NFL in 2020 for the New York Jets.

At 16,000, Gore ranks third on the all-time rushing yards list in NFL, only behind Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton. He was a five-time Pro Bowler to play for the 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Jets.

After retiring from football, Gore started a new career stint with boxing in the heavyweight category. He played his exhibition match in 2021 against former NBA player Deron Williams, following which he made a professional debut on May 14, 2022, by winning the knockout match against Olaseyinde Olorunsola.
