  • A tackling drill involving two kids was condemned by NFL personalities
  • A former NFL player branded the act as "child abuse"
  • The Tennessee Titans have yet to comment on the clip that shows the children wearing jerseys with the team's logo

A video showing two young kids doing strenuous football drills has drawn the ire of football personalities, with some even calling it ridiculous.

The children on the footage appear to be around seven to eight years old, executing a seemingly unsafe tackling maneuver. At one point, one of the kids seemed to have gotten seriously hurt, resulting in criticism and backlash from those who watched it.

The controversial footage of the drill went viral on social media, and many were not too happy with what they saw. That included some NFL personalities.

Retired NFL player Channing Crowder said that the clip showed “child abuse” in an odd way.

"This is child abuse. I know dozens of all pro/hall of fame players that didn't play till they were 10+ years old. You aren't helping your kids. Whatever coach set up this drill for these babies need to be fired and I would like to do this drill against him on his way out," Crowder wrote on Twitter.

Crowder was not the only one to take a jab at the video that has over 6.4 million views as of this writing.

Dan Orlovsky, a backup quarterback during his heydays in the league, branded the scene as one of the senseless things he has seen in youth sports.

The scene appeared to take place on the Tennessee Titans field in an odd-looking training session. The two kids were wearing Titans uniforms with the team logo seen on the field in the background.

To make things much worse, an unidentified person was heard praising one of the boys, saying “You’re good.”

It could not be determined when the video was taken.

For their part, the Titans have yet to comment on the viral video.

Pop Warner and USA football condemned the video as well, saying that these kinds of drills have no place in youth football.

"We are deeply disturbed by this video and are investigating. If, in fact, it was Pop Warner coaches leading these drills, we will take action,” Pop Warner spokesperson Brian Heffton said to Fox News.

"What we saw was dangerous and, frankly, offensive to the overwhelming majority of our coaches who teach the sport the right way," he continued. "We expect every coach to adhere to mandated training and focus on the proper, safe progressions of tackling techniques, including practice against dummies, particularly at such a young age.”
