  • A 54-year-old Alabama man pleaded guilty to filming a young girl in his home while she was visiting his daughter
  • He was convicted in 2018 for production and possession of child porn involving a different victim
  • He received a nearly 50-year sentence Thursday that he will serve concurrently with his sentence in 2018

A former assistant principal at an Alabama school who was convicted three years ago for production and possession of child pornography admitted last week to filming a young girl when she came over to his home in 2013 to visit his daughter.

Tim Clevenger, 54, pleaded guilty Thursday to two additional counts of production of child pornography and two additional counts of possession of child pornography in a trial that involved a different victim from his 2018 case, AL.com reported.

The former educator at a high school outside Birmingham was sentenced to 18 years on each of the production counts and seven years on each of the possession charges. Clevenger had been the assistant principal of the school for 11 years and was with the Blount County Schools system for 18 years, a report by WBRC said.

Clevenger had recorded the victims using his bathroom or showering at night from outside the window of his Cleveland, Alabama, home when the girls would come over to visit his daughter, as per AL.com. The videos were reportedly taken at night when the girls were unaware that Clevenger was outside watching them.

"Today, for the first time, Tim Clevenger admitted that he perpetuated these horrific crimes against a young girl," Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey was quoted as saying.

According to Casey, Clevenger refused in 2018 to acknowledge his guilt in the trial with the first victim and instead claimed that his then-9-year-old son had snuck out of the house at night and took the videos and put them in Clevenger's school computer.

"The evidence showed that the downloads took place at 1:30 a.m. on his school computer and that there was no physical way that the 9-year-old could have done this," Casey said.

She added, "It takes a real piece of crap to blame their own child for committing such vile acts knowing that they had actually done it."

Casey had asked for the sentences to be served consecutively with the first victim, but the court ran them concurrently.

Clevenger was arrested in 2015 after the initial video was discovered on a school-owned laptop that he had sent over to the central office for technical support. A search was executed on his electronic devices at home and the field house at the school, which revealed other videos and the additional victim.

He was arrested again in 2017 on the second victim, who was present in court Thursday to hear Clevenger’s guilty plea.

Clevenger has been detained in the Alabama Department of Corrections since June 2018.
