  • The upcoming "Fairy Tail " RPG by Koei Tecmo has been delayed
  • From its June 26 launch, it has been rescheduled to July 31
  • The "Fairy Tail" game will be playable for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC

Fans looking forward to the “Fairy Tail” game this June will be disappointed.

After initially being delayed from its March 2020 release, the upcoming RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust Studios has been postponed again. “Fairy Tail” has now been rescheduled to July 31 – more than one month from its supposed June 26 launch.

In an announcement on Twitter, Koei Tecmo America cited the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the delay.

“Due to the ever-changing world disrupted by COVID-19, Koei Tecmo and Gust Studios are pushing back the release of Fairy Tail until July 31, 2020,” the statement read.

“The development team is working extremely hard through an unprecedented time to deliver the ultimate magical Japanese RPG experience to fans across the world and we appreciate everybody’s patience as we put the final touches on this thrilling adventure.”

For the uninitiated, the “Fairy Tail” game is an action RPG wherein players can take on the role of several characters from the popular manga and anime series of the same name. Characters that have been confirmed for the game include the Dragon Slayer trio of Natsu Dragneel, Wendy and Gajeel, as well as popular characters such as Lucy, Gray, Erza, and Gildarts.

Despite the delay though, “Fairy Tail” remains available for pre-order on Amazon and other online retailers. The game will be playable for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

“Fairy Tail” joins a long list of games that have to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping all over the world and forcing businesses to shut down. Due to self-isolation and quarantine protocols, most development studios had to adopt a work-from-home setup – thereby causing delays when it comes to game production.

Recently, games like “Kingdom Hearts Dark Road” and “Ninjala” have to be re-scheduled because of the crisis. For “Ninjala,” its launch has been moved from May 27 to June 24.

Meanwhile, “Dark Road” – a mobile spinoff of the popular “Kingdom Hearts” game – has been delayed indefinitely after it was initially scheduled to be released in Spring 2020. However, there are still hopes that it will be launched this year.
