Rick Cosnett is coming back to “The Flash.”

The 33-year-old actor announced his return to the CW series on his Twitter and Facebook accounts with a photo of him taken by Harvey House Production. Cosnett revealed no other details about his comeback, so it’s unclear when exactly he is appearing and whether he is reprising his role as Eddie Thawne when he returns.

Eddie was Joe’s (Jesse L. Martin) partner and Iris’ (Candice Patton) fiancé. He was one of the first members of Central City Police Department to learn the existence of metahumans. A few episodes after learning Barry’s (Grant Gustin) secret identity as the Flash, he was kidnapped by the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), a.k.a. Eobard Thawne, and found out that he was an ancestor of the villainous speedster. To prevent Eobard from existing, Eddie decided to take his life, saving his friends’ lives in the process and preventing the evil time-traveller from doing any further harm to Central City and to time itself.

Since his death in the Season 1 finale, Eddie has only appeared once. Cosnett reprised his role in a flashback sequence in Season 2, episode 17.

In his impending return, Cosnett might reprise his role once again in a flashback scene. He might also play a version of Eddie from a different Earth or a completely different character.

News of Cosnett’s return comes a few days after Entertainment Weekly revealed that Robbie Amell is reprising his role as Ronnie Raymond in an upcoming winter episode of the show’s Season 3. Ronnie was Caitlin’s (Panabaker) fiancé and a former structural engineer at S.T.A.R. Labs. He became half of the transmuted and conjoint metahuman Firestorm following the particle accelerator explosion. After adjusting to his new life as a human torch, Ronnie tied the knot with Caitlin. Their marriage, however, didn’t last long as Ronnie died in the Season 2 premiere after sacrificing himself to stop the singularity that was consuming Central City.

Twelve episodes later, Amell returned to the show as Ronnie’s Earth-2 doppelgänger, Deathstorm, only to be killed by Season 2’s main villain, Zoom (Teddy Sears).

“The Flash” winter premiere (Season 3, episode 10) airs on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
