A Florida man was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old family member and then claiming to authorities that "voodoo" was the reason he raped the girl.

Jean Innocent, 41, was taken into custody on Dec. 19. He remains in Palm Beach County Jail after being charged with one count of incest, one count of impregnation of a child and two counts of sexual battery of a child in familial or custodial care, Law&Crime reported.

He is currently being held without bond. His relationship with the victim was not specified.

The victim was brought to St. Mary's Hospital on Dec. 19 due to abdominal pain, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime. Pregnancy testing later revealed that she was roughly six weeks pregnant.

The child, whose name is redacted in the affidavit to protect her identity as a minor, reportedly told investigators that she "had sexual intercourse" with Innocent four times since her abdominal surgery in July 2020.

The victim allegedly described the first "penile vaginal sexual abuse," saying it happened in the summer. The second instance of sexual abuse occurred in November, she alleged.

The victim narrated the abuse, telling the authorities that Innocent entered her bedroom and told her, ''Give me 10 minutes," the affidavit stated. He then raped the girl, who said "no" and was refusing and crying, according to the document.

"The victim stated that [Innocent] stopped and said 'never mind' because she was crying. He then left the room," the affidavit said.

The victim told the police that the encounter was painful and made her "feel weird."

During a recorded one-party consent-controlled call from the victim to Innocent, the victim told Innocent she had been throwing up and explained that the hospital was about to give her a pregnancy test.

According to the affidavit, Innocent instructed the victim to say no and began making up a story for her to tell about a relationship with a boy named "Semen."

"He told the victim if she tells he will go to jail. [Innocent] told the victim she was not pregnant because her period was not due for another week. The victim asked, 'did you do it inside of me?' [Innocent] replied, 'Yes, I think I do it,'" the affidavit stated.

The defendant allegedly added that he believed his "pre-ejaculation" could have caused the pregnancy.

While interviewing him on the allegations, Innocent allegedly told investigators that "he believes voodoo caused him to have sexual intercourse with [the victim]." He also claimed that he only remembered having penile vaginal intercourse with the victim on two separate occasions and that the first time was approximately three months before his arrest.

"He stated that they were inside of his bedroom on his bed," the affidavit said. "[Innocent] described telling [the victim] he needed '5 minutes.' He then inserted his penis into her vagina. He stated that it was only for a few seconds and then he stopped and left the room."

Innocent allegedly told investigators that the second instance of sexual abuse also occurred inside his bedroom. He allegedly entered and asked her for "10 minutes." He reportedly told the victim it was the last time he would ask.

"He said that [the victim] had tears coming from her eyes and she said OK. He then climbed on top of her and had penile vaginal intercourse with her," the affidavit stated.
