  • The 64-year-old woman bought two Mega Millions tickets that matched the winning numbers from Sept. 14's drawing
  • She claimed a total of $4 million after the pair of winning tickets each won $2 million
  • The convenience store she bought the tickets from will receive a $10,000 bonus commission

A 64-year-old Florida woman won $4 million after the two lottery tickets she bought from a local convenience store both matched the winning numbers of a drawing earlier this month, officials said.

Susan Fitton, of Boca Raton, claimed a pair of $2 million Mega Millions tickets at the Florida Lottery's West Palm Beach District Office, the lottery organizer said in a statement released Tuesday.

Both of Fitton's tickets matched all five of the white ball numbers of the drawing held Sept. 14, according to the Florida Lottery. The winning tickets did not match the Mega Ball.

Fitton purchased the two tickets at the Prip Mart convenience store, located at 299 West Camino Real in Boca Raton. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the two winning tickets, the Florida Lottery said.

It was unclear what Fitton plans to do with her prize money.

A 77-year-old man in Ontario, Canada, also won the lottery twice in less than a year between 2020 and 2021.

Robert MacDonald walked away with a CA$100,000 ($78,000) prize on Sept. 8, roughly 11 months after he won CA$50,000 ($39,000) in October last year. His earnings summed up to over $117,000.

MacDonald had hit the jackpot in the Lottario draw after matching six out of the seven Encore numbers, Toronto-based Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) said.

MacDonald discovered he won his most recent prize after he scanned the ticket he bought at a Circle K gas station. He said he plans to spend some of his winnings on his family, while the rest will be for future investments.

"If you stay positive, your time will come," the elderly man said, addressing fellow lottery players.

The OLG recognized MacDonald as a regular bettor, with his favorite games being Lottario, Ontario 49, Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49.

While many would consider MacDonald and Fitton lucky for winning the lottery twice, both still trail behind Roman-Australian Stefan Mandel, New Yorker Armand Paganelli and Virginian Deborah Brown, who have won the lottery 14, 16 and 30 times, respectively.
