Foldable iPhone Could Be Better Than Samsung Galaxy Fold, Mate X

Foldable iPhone could be in works and when it arrives it may receive better reception from Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X foldable phones. Various other manufacturers such as Microsoft, Xiaomi, Motorola, Oppo and more are reportedly working on foldable devices. The rumor mill has been claiming since last year that Apple is also working on a foldable phone. A concept model of the foldable iPhone has surfaced to reveal what to expect from its design.

Apple was granted a patent application for a foldable phone design was approved in 2016. According to The Verge, the Cupertino company has recently revised the design to add more information on how the device would fold by means of an hinge. CNBC’s report from the last year had claimed that the company is working on a foldable phone that may go official in 2020. There is no confirmation on whether the foldable iPhone may sport the same design the company had recently filed.

A Dutch designer Roy Gilsing has shared a concept model of the foldable iPhone on Foldable News. The foldable iPhone concept device dubbed as “iPhone X Fold” features a design that is similar to the Galaxy Fold. Like the Samsung device, the iPhone X Fold can be opened like a book to see its internal display that offers an aspect ratio of 2:3. Its exterior features a screen delivers 1:3 aspect ratio.

The publication claims that the device can seamlessly switch between iPhone-mode and iPad-mode. Also, it can be partially folded so that one half of the inner display can be used for viewing while the other half can serve as a touchscreen keyboard.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold smartphone will go on sale in April while the 5G enabled Huawei Mate X will be available for buying by the mid-2019. The foldable phone market is in its nascent stage. Since Apple is expected to debut its foldable phone next year, it is likely to learn from the mistakes from the companies that were early to enter the foldable phone market. Hence, the iOS powered foldable iPhone is expected to deliver better experience than Galaxy Fold and Mate X.
