Carmelo Anthony is still waiting for a call to return to the NBA but nothing has materialized so far. Most folks believe he can still be of use to any team but no ballclub has come forward to give him a chance.

Nick Young, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors, is the latest NBA personality to weigh in on the 10-time All-Star. He feels Melo still has a lot of basketball left in him. Curiously, he made an interesting suggestion on why teams may be staying away from Anthony. He feels that social media trolls are hurting the 35-year-old's chances in a report from TMZ Sports.

"I think it got a lot to do with Instagram ... how he's being treated. Every time he shoots the ball its a meme. It's kinda funny, but it kinda messed him up."

In some ways, Young may have a point. But looking at its entirety, the effect of Instagram on Carmelo Anthony's chances of making an NBA return may only be at some extent. A look at posts linked to the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft are mostly positive. Regardless of his claim, the point here is that Young joins a long list of people who believe Anthony deserves to be in the NBA.

Curiously, Young is not that far off in terms of age from Anthony. He is only 34 and is also a free agent. He last suited up for the Golden State Warriors and was part of the 2017-18 NBA champion squad. Like Melo, he too is hoping for another NBA stint. In his last stint, he played only four games with the Denver Nuggets before getting waived, USA Today reported.

With regards to Anthony, the waiting game continues. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were pushing for him over in Brooklyn but the Nets opted to prioritize players who already worked out for them. They signed Lance Thomas to fill up the void left by Wilson Chandler who was suspended for 25 games for PED use, NBA.com reported.

With training camp underway, Carmelo Anthony's chances of returning to the NBA have grown dimmer. There is a chance that teams could still give him a call in the event of injuries or players who perform below par.
