There were a lot of things that went on at SummerSlam 2019 with several matches entertaining the crowd with gusto. But like other WWE pay-per-views, some short segments like the one involving Elias also drew attention. Unfortunately, it was because someone the WWE world has not seen for quite a while made an appearance - Edge.

The Rated R superstar electrified the crowd at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada when he came out and apparently took exception of the insults being hurled by Elias. But in the back of the minds of many, Edge has been warned against getting involved physically in matches- meaning his appearance would be more of a verbal assault on the 31-year-old WWE heel, WWE.com reported.

But to everyone's surprise, it seemed like the former champion could care less. He gave Elias a taste of his legendary finisher, the Spear. That move, long missed by fans, led to an eruption from the people in attendance - a fitting way to kick off SummerSlam 2019.

Edge was forced to retire from WWE action in 2011 after suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. After careful examination of an MRI, it was found that he would never be cleared to compete again and this is what led to his retirement, per another report from WWE.com.

Eight years later, the Rated R superstar returns and even gets a bit physical. Some are asking if Edge is no given the green light to compete or was it just a one-and-done spear? Regardless, this surprising incident could trigger plenty of questions. If he is returning, the obvious target is Elias with the WWE seemingly focusing/ targeting legendary wrestlers. If not, the whole thing was purely meant to electrify the crowd and kick off SummerSlam 2019 on a high note.

Incidentally, two other WWE legends in attendance had official matches. Goldberg faced Ziggler with the former WWE champion unsurprisingly coming out victorious. Trish Stratus also squared off against Charlotte Flair in a dream match with the latter winning via submission.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting what is in store for WWE fans on WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown. Will the badgering of legendary wrestlers continue? Stay tuned!
