Matthew Perry was great amid various speculations about his health, according to the people he worked with recently.

Ben Winston, who directed the "Friends" reunion special, addressed the rumors circulating about Perry's heath. He recalled the time they were filming and said Perry was doing good at the time.

"Yes, he was great," the 39-year-old director told The Hollywood Reporter. "People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t."

Winston went on and praised Perry's talent and sense of humor. He also shared how it felt directing the "17 Again" star.

"I loved working with him. He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners on the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this," he added.

Kevin Bright, the show's executive producer and director, also addressed the speculations concerning Perry's health. According to him, the 51-year-old star was doing better.

"I talked to him. It was great seeing him again," Bright told THR.

"And what people say is what people say. I don’t have any to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he’s very funny on the show. But yes, I think he’s OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward."

The speculations about Perry's health started after an interview to promote the "Friends" reunion special was released. Many noticed that he looked awkward in the video and even stammered at one point. Fans immediately took to social media to air their concerns about Perry.

"Just saw People interview and can't believe how Matthew Perry looks like… seriously it breaks my heart," one commented.

"Just watched @people exclusive interview clip of Friends casts and the time hasn’t been kind. I hope Matthew Perry is okay. Damn how much I love them," another added.

Perry has been open about his struggles with substance abuse. In an interview with BBC Radio in 2016, he admitted that he was in rough shape and couldn't remember three years of the show.

At present, Perry is already sober and is engaged to Molly Hurwitz. He confirmed their engagement to People in November.

"I decided to get engaged," he told the entertainment news outlet. "Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time."
