While the world is reeling from the impact of COVID-19 on practically everything, including smartphones and the demand for it, reports about Samsung's Galaxy Fold 2 abound on the internet, all of them claiming that the device will have this feature and that.

Here's a quick look at some of the things that the unannounced device could feature, as well as some of the things that fans and tech sites are speculating about.

Same form, but with a few changes

As per CNet, the Galaxy Fold 2 could feature the same book form, but with a few changes to make it better. Rumors collected by the site point to a device that looks like its predecessor, but with a wider exterior display and some details similar to the Galaxy S20 series.

A concept video showing how the device could feature the Galaxy Z Flip's hinge also reveals how it could look like, Sammobile reported. The video showed the Galaxy Fold 2 having a hinge that disappears when the device is unfolded, but appears to show a “Samsung” branding when folded.

Improved displays

Several sources, including XDA Developers, Sammobile and more, reveal that the device could have a wider outer display and an enhanced inner display. The cover display could measure 6.23 inches and have 2,267x819-pixel resolution. This is wider than the 4.6-inch cover display on the first Galaxy Fold. This display is believed to have 60Hz refresh rate.

Inside, the Galaxy Fold 2 is believed to have a 7.59-inch display with 2,213x1,689-pixel resolution. This display is said to be able to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate.

Other specs

The new device is also expected to feature the following:

  • First. the Galaxy Fold 2 is believed to have a Snapdragon 865 or 865 Plus processor, and can come in 5G and 4G variants. It is also believed to come in 256GB and 512GB storage configurations.
  • Second, it is believed to have an S Pen, like the Galaxy Note.
  • Third, Max Weinbach of XDA Developers said it could feature a 10MP sensor on the cover display, and a quad-cam setup with 12MP wide angle, 64MP telephoto, 12MP ultra-wide, and Time-of-Flight sensor at the back. Inner camera could be inside a hole punch, or an under-display camera
  • Fourth, its battery could be larger than its predecessor, at either 4,500 or 5,000 mAh. It will likely have 25W charging, and have Samsung's PowerShare feature.

That said, all of these are but speculations at the moment. The International Business Times will report of any official announcements from Samsung, so fans should stay tuned.
