With less than 12 hours left before the poll is closed, it appeared the respondents were divided on the issue, with 50.9% answering "yes" and 49.1% saying "no".

Williams has 2.7 million followers on Twitter and her estimated net worth is around $6 million, Cointelegraph reported.

Peter McCormack, a journalist and podcaster, advised her to avoid investing in avoid altcoins. "Lesson 1 - Bitcoin and nothing else," he replied. Others advised her to buy Bitcoins on platforms where it is easiest to do so, such as Cash App or Coinbase.

Some users were making "Game of Thrones" references in their replies. The Twitter account of Blockfolio encouraged Williams to "join the freefolk," while Barry Silbert, founder of the Digital Currency Group, suggested the actress to check out "Grayscale", which in "Game of Thrones" refers to a deadly disease, but it is also the name of a cryptocurrency investment firm.

Others like Elon Musk appeared to purposely make a wrong pop-cultural reference by saying, "Toss a Bitcoin to your Witcher."

Some of her followers replied that they know nothing about cryptocurrency. "So until I can learn the do's and don'ts, it's probably not the best idea," one person replied.

This year, as Bitcoin moves toward reclaiming its previous all-time high after more than two years, many known personalities have publicly spoken about Bitcoin. In May, Harry Potter author JK Rowling asked her followers for advice about Bitcoin. In the same month, Billionaire Paul Tudor Jones said he owned some Bitcoins because it reminded him of gold in the 1970s.
