KEY POINTS

  • Kazuha is a new 5-star Anemo character in "Genshin Impact" 1.6
  • He's a sword-wielding hybrid CC/damage dealer with strong AoE attacks
  • Kazuha's bilities might be a bit redundant with other Anemo characters

The latest dev stream for “Genshin Impact” has revealed a lot of upcoming content for the game, including a new 5-star Anemo character that’s set to receive his limited wish banner in the coming weeks. Kaedehara Kazuha will be the latest addition to the game’s roster, but just how well will he fit in the game’s current state?

With Kazuha’s abilities officially getting revealed, it’s worth taking a closer look into how he plays and if he’s worth pulling for from a pure gameplay perspective. Personal preferences and biases aside, here’s a short deliberation on whether or not Kazuha is worth the hype in “Genshin Impact.”

Ability Breakdown

The dev stream showed that Kazuha’s elemental abilities are more or less the same as the ones posted on the Honey Impact website in the past. He’s a hybrid CC/Damage character but with a heavier emphasis on dealing Anemo DMG over large areas.

Kazuha’s Elemental Skill pulls objects and enemies toward him before launching them up into the air with him. This skill deals Anemo damage and can be held to deal more damage over a larger area. Once in the air, Kazuha can perform a special plunge attack that deals Anemo damage and creates a wind tunnel that pulls enemies inward.

On the other hand, his Elemental Burst is a single, strong slash that creates a field that periodically pulses Anemo damage. This field can absorb other elements like Venti’s or Sucrose’s bursts.

Kazuha’s Playstyle

His abilities make him an ideal Sub-DPS character for creating zones of continuous CC and elemental damage. At a glance, he’s very similar to Venti but with a few more damage-dealing options with his Elemental Skill and empowered Plunge attacks. With that said, Kazuha might be a little redundant for players who already have Venti in their party.

Kazuha can deal high amounts of Elemental Damage through Swirl and other reactions if he has high-enough Elemental Mastery. However, he might also be a viable pick as a Physical DMG character due to his access to certain swords and the standard two-hit Charged Attack shared across all sword users.

Verdict

As of late, Kazuha seems to be a good all-around character that’s great for simultaneously grouping up and obliterating small enemies. It’s a little too early to tell how his CC abilities will compare to that of Venti or Sucrose or if his damage potential is as high as Xiao’s.

His overall utility and hybrid-role nature makes him worth wishing for, especially for fans of sword users or the Anemo element, but players who have any of the other Anemo characters may find Kazuha a tad bit redundant.
